Qurat ul Ain- An HR professional and an entrepreneur

I am Qurat Ul Ain (known as QR Ahmed) from Karachi- Pakistan. I am an HR professional/consultant and running my own HR consultancy firm under the name of “The HR Compatibles”. I am MA English Literature and MBA HR.

At The HR Compatibles, we provide recruitment/staffing services to companies that are based not only in Pakistan but in UAE too which includes technical and non-technical recruitments. We are, at the moment, dealing with the IT industry and providing them human resources. I aim to make my company a successful HR consultancy firm which should be able to not only provide recruitment/staffing services to companies but various HR services such as Training & Development, Outsourcing, Policy making etc. It is a new company and at a growing stage, therefore, right now I am focusing only on providing recruitment services.

I believe that in Pakistan, and in most of the foreign countries too, the true HR practices are not being followed. Candidates get jobs not for their abilities but through references and what’s worse, every job asks for a prior experience. We provide authentic and merit based-recruitment services to companies in an attempt to ensure the provision of only best staff to companies that come into business with us. I believe that the “HR consultancy business” is a growing business across the world. This is the paradox that companies yet do not want to spend on HR departmentsts., with in their companies and even though they later end up hiring HR consultancies, which are there to help them out and providing excellent HR solutions. To get the best resources for a firm (as per their criteria, and requirements) is not an easy job. You need to search the industries and social media platforms, and databases; sometimes people do not reach you looking for a job; you need to reach the right people with the job offer, so recruitment encircles several other processes in itself.

I myself have experienced working in the Customer Service industry, the banking industry, and software house/IT industry and not only in HR but in operations/marketing, compliance, content writing etc. These diversified experiences have made me able enough to be able start up my own HR consultancy firm, and I am pleased to tell you that it is going good.

What it takes to be an entrepreneur?

I will tell you this one thing, to be an entrepreneur is not as easy as it may seem. I myself have been up, restlessly upon numerous nights in order to work on my venture, but it feels great to work day and night for something that is your own. With the right level of passion and dedication you will find out that you never get tired of it. There is another factor involved here which motivated me to start my small business, and that is unemployment. I have given thousands of interviews but failed to score the jobs despite being experienced and highly qualified. People rejected me by telling me upon instances that I was over-qualified or they would offer me compensations which were surprisingly low, as if making an offer to just another trainee. It has always been a dream to start my own firm, and when I did not find just the job, I realized it was the time. I believe, one should never be hopeless in life, problems come to only make you stronger and there are obviously better things Allah wants you to accomplish.

What had been your vision and what do you most love about your business?

Well, Human Resource management has always been my passion. I believe, you get to work as the backbone of an organization by working in the HR and therefore, you get a chance to play a vital role in organizational development. I have had experiences of working in diversified industries in different departments too, including HR and this motivated me to be an entrepreneur of the sort. It was also because I knew the industry requirements of human resources very well. I wanted to provide organizations with the best human resources and I am still doing that successfully.

What do you think is your biggest achievement throughout your entrepreneurial journey?

The establishment of my own firm (The HR Compatibles) is my biggest achievement till now. I believe in dreaming and making your dreams come true by all the right means and hard work.
